The active participation of the students in the teaching process is an important problem of the university sports education in general. Participation without motivation or even not taking part in the classes is a frequently met phenomenon. In that relation comes the question of what has to be done to increase the interest and provide motives for the students to take part in the teaching activities.
The basic problem is how to create a positive attitude towards sports activities. For finding an adequate reaction to that some information about the current state of the problem should be collected.
In our opinion determination of students' sports interests and their appropriate orientation in sports will stimulate their physical activity. In the same time studying the motives for practicing sports has its importance for the modern life in a rapidly changing social environment.
