A critical review on the studies of the synergistic extraction
of metals with mixtures of chelating extractants and amines or quaternary
ammonium salts is presented. The måchanism of the synergistic extraction
of metals with various mixtures of extractants as well as the influence of
different factors such as the nature and properties of the metal, the chelating
extractant, the amine salt and the diluent are discussed on the basis of the
available data.
